About the artwork: A tribute to jazz musician Charlie Parker (nicknamed Bird), a leading figure in the development of bebop. Basquiat referenced jazz musicians and recordings in over thirty of his paintings including Charles the First (1982) and Horn Players (1983). The Strokes would later use this work as the cover of their album The New Abnormal (2020).
